Engineering

Founding Product Engineer

Full-Stack TypeScript / AWS. First engineering hire, permanent full-time employment, fully remote within Germany.

€80,000 1.0% VSOP-equivalent Remote in Germany Full-time
The Role

Own the path from problem to release

This is not ticket-taking. Most work begins with a problem or desired outcome, not a finished specification. You will clarify what is needed, define the first useful version, choose a practical user experience and technical approach, and take it through release and measurement.

You will have direct founder access, but should be comfortable making sound day-to-day decisions independently. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role, not a people-management position.

About Stream-Punk

The platform for making marketing campaigns interactive

Brands and agencies use Stream-Punk to connect live data and audience participation across live streams, videos, overlays, companion websites and real-world activations. An interaction can start on a viewer’s phone, update a stream or venue screen in real time, and continue into a physical experience.

Our technology has powered interactive campaigns for brands including NVIDIA, Blizzard, Lenovo Legion, MEDION ERAZER, GIGABYTE and CD PROJEKT RED, to name just a few. We are also backed by significant non-dilutive EU innovation funding supporting product development and R&D.

Alongside the core platform, we are building an EU-funded influencer marketplace. It will use AI to turn campaign briefs into creator tasks, match creators with campaigns and assess deliverables using transparent, human-reviewed outputs.

We are founder-led and hiring our first product engineer. You will work directly with the technical founder and help shape the product, architecture, engineering practices and future team.

The Technical Adventure

This is not standard SaaS CRUD. The platform combines low-latency event flows, audience-scale concurrency, multi-tenant permissions, media integrations, screen-to-physical interactions and auditable AI workflows.

What You Will Own

Broad responsibility, centred on product engineering

  • End-to-end product delivery. Turn customer and business needs into lightweight specifications and delivery plans; decide what ships first, what waits, and where a shortcut would be too risky.
  • Core platform and marketplace development. Build customer-facing features across Angular and TypeScript, Node.js services and AWS serverless infrastructure managed with the Serverless Framework, including the new influencer marketplace and its AI workflows.
  • Production quality. Review generated and hand-written code and improve architecture, CI/CD, observability, reliability, security, performance, privacy and AWS cost.
  • Customer-facing technical work. Join discovery calls, demos and the technical side of support; explain trade-offs clearly; and become a dependable technical contact when the founder is away.
  • Engineering foundations. Document important decisions and operating procedures, improve how we build and release software, and help interview and onboard future engineers.

Your core job is product engineering. Product discovery, prioritisation, customer relationships and support are shared with the founder and commercial team; you are not expected to be a full-time designer, salesperson or support desk.

What We Are Looking For

Evidence of what you have built, operated and learned

  • A track record of independently shipping and operating customer-facing web or SaaS products from problem definition through production and iteration.
  • Strong JavaScript or TypeScript fundamentals, including browser applications, APIs, authentication, permissions, data modelling, asynchronous systems, testing and debugging.
  • Production experience on AWS or another major cloud platform, with sound judgment around deployment, observability, security, reliability and cost.
  • Good product judgment, including sensible trade-offs on ambiguous problems and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.
  • Clear, low-ego communication, including the confidence to speak with customers and explain technical subjects to non-technical people.
  • The ability to work independently from a home office, communicate proactively, and be based in Germany with the right to work here.

Customer-facing work is English-first, so excellent written and spoken English is required. German at B2 level or above is a strong advantage for DACH accounts, but is not required.

We care more about evidence of what you have built, operated and learned than about degrees or an arbitrary number of years on your CV.

Useful, Not Required

Relevant experience that would help

  • Angular, Node.js, the Serverless Framework and AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront or EventBridge.
  • Real-time systems, media or live streaming, high-concurrency products, AI integration, marketplaces, multi-tenant SaaS or GDPR-sensitive products.
  • Pragmatic UI/UX, prototyping, event technology, German at B2+, or an interest in customer meetings and industry events such as gamescom.
How We Work

Small, observable releases and clear ownership

We use AI-assisted development where it improves speed or quality, but understanding and accountability remain non-negotiable. We prefer small, observable releases and communicate risks and trade-offs early.

You are not expected to be world-class at engineering, design, product, cloud architecture and customer success at once. We want deep product-engineering ability, sound judgment and useful breadth.

Working hours are flexible, with reasonable overlap during normal German business hours. We do not operate a standing 24/7 on-call rota. Planned live campaigns and events may occasionally require evening or weekend work; this will be agreed in advance and compensated with equivalent time off.

Location & Travel

Remote in Germany, with focused in-person time

This is a fully remote, 40-hour role for someone based in Germany. Your first week will be spent in person with the founder in the Munich/Ingolstadt area.

Occasional travel may also be required for customer meetings, team sessions and industry events, but not weekly. Reasonable travel and accommodation costs are covered.

Compensation & Equipment

Transparent package from the start

€80,000gross annual base salary
1.0%VSOP-equivalent grant, vesting over four years
30 dayspaid annual leave, based on a five-day working week
€2,000laptop budget, plus reasonable home-office equipment
  • A total 1.0% VSOP-equivalent grant, vesting over four years with a one-year cliff and monthly vesting thereafter.
  • Travel and accommodation costs covered for required in-person work and events.

VSOP transparency: a VSOP is a contractual participation right, not legal share ownership. Before you sign, we will provide the full terms and worked payout examples covering the base value, dilution, vesting and leaver provisions.

Hiring Process

Four transparent steps, normally completed within about three weeks

  1. 01
30-minute introductory call with the founder.
  2. 02
60–90 minute technical deep-dive into something you have personally built and operated.
  3. 03
Short practical discussion based on a real Stream-Punk problem. You may use the tools, including AI tools, that you would normally use.
  4. 04
Final conversation covering mutual expectations, the role and the full VSOP terms.

The practical discussion is not unpaid production work. You will receive a clear answer at every stage.
